just a quick note

I need to go and eat breakfast before I get a headache, so I'll keep this short.

I haven't disappeared from here entirely.
I just want to encourage people to keep checking back as I will be getting things back to normal here soon.

Spent a little time in the past week working on a UFO - the black cat of that art deco French advertising poster that everyone has seen at one time or another.

Had a quick trip to Virginia where we had the opportunity to appreciate the wonder that is the cicada invasion. The sound is incredible. And the children seem to be delighted with their new "playmates" and objects of torture.

I wrote

I wrote a little article on blogging for our EGA newsletter. I know a lot of them are internet savvy, but most have not heard of web logs.
Having just finished a newsletter for another group, I know I would have loved seeing an unsolicited article. Any info in a coherent form to make things interesting.

Le sigh.

Been a long day and it's not even 3:00 p.m. Spent the morning at a crew regetta and even with sunscreen and avoidance of sun, I have burned my face. Not bad, just way redder than is attractive.

what I did this time

I just copied my html code into a text document so when I do the "stupid" thing again that makes everything disappear, I can just copy it. I'll just have to remember to update my file whenever I change things.

My apologies to other bloggers - I will get my links back up soon.

waaa

go away for a few days and everything changes...

(comment directed towards others who use blogspot)

I am ovewhelmed this week. So many obligations. And finally we've skipped from winter to summer to here. What happened to spring? Yesterday it was 88 degrees at my house.

tonight is my EGA meeting and I'm hoping for some inspiration. I have not felt the motivation to stitch much lately. I know these things go in cycles. And soon I'm hoping to be back on track.

did it again

Okay
I just had to republish my template again.

HOW FRUSTRATING IS THIS?

Very!

so again, I will be adding things back slowly. And this time I will remember to copy my html code so I can fix things if this happens again.

another stitcher's five poll

1.)Which is your favourite brand of speciality thread?

Anything silk.

2.)Why?

Silk on linen. Silk on linen. I love stitching with silk on linen. Just feels good.

3)How many other brands of thread do you have in your stash?

Are you kidding? We're supposed to count?
DH would say too many.

4.) How do you store your threads?

Mine are bagged.

5.) How confident do you feel at substituting between thread types and colours compared to what the chart calls for?

Tremendously confident. Why follow directions when you can have so much fun on your own?

As You Can See

I've been very slow about fixing my blog back up after having to republish my template. Sorry about that. Should have more time later this week.

I didn't mention last week, that I went to Eleanor Roosevelt's house ValKill with a group of women. Eleanor obviously didn't believe in idle hands. I have seen pictures of her sitting beside Franklin knitting or sewing. In her living room at ValKill, which is presented as it was when she died in 1962, there is a sampler laid across a footstool as if she had just gotten up from working on it and intended to be back soon.

Under my Fingernail

I don't know what I did, but I came home from a function the other night with something jammed under my fingernail. I thought I cleaned it out well, but apparently I was mistaken. End of that finger is slightly swollen and little bit angry. I am typing lightly with that finger. Don't think I'll be stitching today.
