Sunday Update

Okay.  I admit to starting a new project. But it's for my EGA chapters President's challenge. This is a joint challenge from last year's President and me,  the new President. You won't be able to tell much from this photo.  The challenge is to incorporate a number of pearls we gave out at our January meeting. About the only thing you can tell from the photo is that I'm working on canvas. Photo doesn't even give away the color. The pencil lines mean nothing as I have decided to ignore them. It's due in July and I've got a long way to go!

Second photo is my update on my Moxie canvas. I'm pleased beyond belief at how this is turning out. It's a darn good thing I like the color orange!

UFO Challenge

In March at my ANG meeting we started a challenge. It's a UFO challenge. We could pick up to five projects and if we finish one, we can add more. But I think when you see what I've chosen, you'll agree that it is all good at this point and there's no need to add more.

The idea is that we've shared our choices with the guild and we'll be sharing our finishes. If we don't finish, we pay $5 per project to our treasury.

I think the idea is that money will keep up motivated.

Well I jumped right in. The projects had to have been started before Jan 1, 2013.

First:

My Fenway canvas. I started this in 2012 during spring training. This is where I am right now.
Second:

My "Pacific Coast Collage" by Laura J. Perin. I stopped when I didn't like how my scallop shells were turning out. I need to frog them and start again. After that's done, it's a cruise to the finish line on this one. Just a bit of border and some beading.

Third:

Much bigger challenge. This is the Leaf Collage by Terry Dryden. I am in love with this. Hate that I put it down. I need to clean up my spaghetti threads and get to moving on this one!

Fourth:

This is what happens when you insist on doing your own colors. Not enough differentiation in reds. Am seriously considering ripping out all the red, but leaving the gray outline. Need to do some contemplation on this one. This is Ruth Dilts' "Mystic."

Fifth:

Gay Ann Rogers' "Echoes of Elizabeth." This was a Shining Needle Society class. Again - I love this project. Need to work on it.

I guess the object of challenge resonates with me. Need to not pick up my phone and play games at night. Need to stitch instead.

Another Sunrise

The sun rises again and we rise with it
to find ourselves both dimished and increased
by the madness and the goodness in the world

Our peace is shattered yet we must continue
to live our days both in joy and remembrance
of the people who are not given the gift of another sunrise

WISPS

Thanks to the wonders of blogging, I have figured out that I don't have WIPS. I have WISPS .  Works in Slow Progress.

Sometimes my progress seems miniscule. Right now that's where I am,  moving at a snail's pace. I've only been stitching on one thing.

To illustrate :  my Moxie canvas.

I have stitched the bargello down to the letters.  I've filled in the M. I'm trying to decide if I like filling the o completely with dark navy as it is on the can. Still enjoying this piece,  but I've been doing things other than stitching.

Moxie Love

Here's the canvas I created and this is what I am doing with it.

I divided it into five sections. Got five orange threads.  Found five different stitches... and things are progressing.

I got my patterns started this weekend so I could stitch on this in the car on our way south to Fort Benning for our son's boot camp graduation. Which is happening on Thursday.

Life is pretty darn good right now.
