RIP, Robert Jordan

Thank you for the wonderful world of the Wheel of Time. You'll be sorely missed.

I met James Rigney (Robert Jordan) and his wife at the Huka Lodge in New Zealand in 1999. He was a wonderful gentleman, though he thought I was Tom Doherty's (Founder of TOR Books) daughter. My last name sounds the same, but is spelled quite differently. I told Tom about this in Tokyo at the Hugo awards and we had a picture taken of Clan D (Tom, Vince Docherty, and me).

If you liked the Wheel of Time, do you like George R. R. Martin's Song of Fire and Ice?

First of all, color me jealous.

But I have gotten to meet George Martin at a book signing at the National Book Festival 2 years ago. Love Fire and Ice.

Hang around science fiction conventions as long as I have and you are bound to meet most SF writers. Yes, George is great, but he needs to write more and watch football less (this year is depressing for him.)
