Yeah. Like What I Need is More Furniture

Okay. I've gotten myself into a bit of a pickle. I took the oak wall unit from my closing LNS. I just couldn't see it go into the dumpster.

DS and I went and got it yesterday. Came home and set it up in the basement bar room. Looks great. So what's the problem.

The other side of the room.

I seriously need to downsize the paper crafting stuff. I've got too much stuff. That's it. Plain and simple. Too many cookbooks. Too many magazines. Too much furniture. Oh this is going to be fun.

I see some potential solutions. But this is going to involve carting things up and down stairs.
Gee. That thrills me.

In Stitching News:

Morning Glory basket. Argh. I started the over two border with Perle #12 and realized I was off. It doesn't help matters that I'm stitching not over the vertical thread - that's just how it worked out with where I started with the over one. Drives me nuts to not stitch over the vertical thread on linen. I had to rip the Perle and count carefully. I counted carefully many times. I think I finally have it correct. So that finish is delayed by a day.

Meanwhile, happy healing thoughts to my friend, Joan, who broke her arm this week. Her upper arm. On her dominant hand. Can you punch left handed? I bet you can, Joan.

Nope, not possible. It is not possible to have TOO many cookbooks (says the woman with over 700). You never know when you really might need a recipe for Peruvian Matzoh Ball Soup. Sure, get rid of the magazines and the paper crafts and the furniture, but not the cookbooks. ;-)

That's an impressive collection, Kathryn.

I used to control the number of cookbooks in my house by having a rule. If a new cookbook was taking up residence, an old one had to leave. Haven't been following my own rules for a while I guess...

Oh yeah. And what makes the Matzoh Ball Soup Peruvian? I know nothing about Peruvian cooking.

I bet there are a lot of public school kidnergarten/first grade teachers that would love the papercrafting stuff! I know there are some sites out there looking for donations. Good luck.

Get rid of the cookbooks. If you need a recipe, just go to your computer and look up Peruvian Matzoh Ball Soup. You'll probably get 200 different recipes and you can print up the ones that sound good and put them in a 3 ring binder and start your own cook book. Of course this advice comes from someone who doesn't like to cook, but has about 100 cook books in her basement.

Most of the cookbooks were collected while I was working in the International Division of a software company. It's much less of a hassle to bring home a copy of a cookbook than some dustable and breakable giftie. So they are memorabilia as well as reference material. For a while I was also trying to collect all the Hawaiian cookbooks ever published, but I am simply not a completist. My cookbooks still take up less space than a couple of pieces of random furniture.

Hmm. I thought the shelving unit was going to be stored broken down for a year or so. Get rid of excess paper crafts and magazines, not the cookbooks. I despair of having enough cookbooks. Seems every time I look for a recipe using a particular item, I can't find one in any I already own. Ha!
