a parent of 2 high school graduates! Yes. And I let myself get roped into volunteering for the all-night grad party. But not doing anything difficult. Just requires my participation the morning of graduation and at 3:30 a.m....good thing I'm frequently awake then anyway. DS is unfortunately home sick again today. The awful cough that I brought home from NH is now in his possession. He wants to go to school so badly because it's his last week interning. Frustration abounds.
On Monday afternoon, I realized that my mint has thrived and is ready for use. (Yes. I planted this in a pot, not in the ground. I'm not that stupid.) So with muddler in hand I made the best mint juleps. Forget Bianco vermouth on the rocks with a twist - this is my new summer drink. I see my Trader Vic's book has about a dozen julep recipes. Some experimenting may be in order. My original intent for the mint was mojitos, but I like bourbon better than rum anyway.

Mmmmmmmmm bourbon. I'm a Manhattan woman, myself. Summer, I tend toward the Hefeweizen. The two times I have tried mint juleps (first Saturday in May) I have shuddered. It must be the mint. ;-)
